Internet of Things

15TH16TH September 2015, Oracle Utrecht

Details

The Internet of Things (IoT) is all the buzz in the consumer space. Whether your clock tells your coffee maker to start, an alert that a meeting is delayed automatically figures out a new time to adjust your alarm, or your phone controlling both access and the temperature of your house, the idea of everything being connected is here to stay. But, what does it mean for the enterprise?

Whether you are new to IoT or been working in the space for years, come to the hackathon in Utrecht this September and prove an Enterprise IoT concept. If you've been thinking about how IoT will affect your product or domain, this is the time to act on it. You just need to bring the ideas and do a little bit of homework. We'll provide some experienced mentors to help you as you realize your concept in a few short days.

Register

Interested? Register as a team by September 4th. Teams can be made up of as few as 2, and as many as 4 members. A maximum of 10 teams will be allowed.

Code & Submit

Create an IoT app using the Raspberry Pi and any (or all) of the sensors provided by 3 pm on Wednesday September 16.

Demo to Win!

Demonstrate what you have developed and show why your app is awesome and share great stories around the data within 3 minutes. The demo session will start the afternoon of September 16th.

Requirements

Participants should be familiar with the following topics:

  • Electronics (how to connect sensors and get data from them)
  • Raspberry Pi/Arduino
  • Internet of Things basic concepts
  • Java / Python / JavaScript

Judging Criteria

Each App will be evaluated by the Judges based on the following criteria:

  • Execution and Productizability - How fully developed and implemented the entry is. How much would it take to productize? Are there potential downstream add-ons to the entry?
  • Enterprise Applicability - We all know how hot IoT is in the consumer space. We'll be judging heavily for strong, demonstrated use cases for the enterprise. Hint: if there's something you've wanted to do with YOUR product, this is the time.
  • User Experience - Is the entry engaging? Will users want find value and want to use it? Is it a delight to use?

All things being equal, Enterprise Applicability will win in a tie.

Prizes

Prizes: the envy, adoration and respect of your peers. Oh, and some other fun prizes, too.
